Equality by degrees
I'm honoured to give this address. I completed my law degree at this university, and well remember the December day in 1977 when I received it. Theoretical perspectives on bystander intervention
Models which account for the circumstances under which different bystander responses occur have been evolving since the 1970s, especially in the fields of criminology and social psychology. The notion of bystanders originated with the study of an event in New York where a young woman, Kitty Genovese, was raped and stabbed to death over a period of half an hour. Submissions on the Sex Discrimination Amendment (Teaching Profession) Bill 2004
2. First, the Bill is unnecessary because it is unlikely to achieve its stated purpose; that is to address the problem of the imbalance in the number of male and female school teachers and the assumed effect of that imbalance on the education of male school students.
