The Commission's Information Services
The Commission has two information services that you can contact for information about the Commission's complaint handling function. They are:
- The Respect@Work Information Service
- The National Information Service
Currently, our Information Service phone lines are open Monday - Friday between the hours of 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM Sydney time.
Enquiries can be made by phone on 1300 656 419, by email or in writing. In person visits are no longer accepted.
Respect@Work Information Service
The Respect@Work Information Service is a national, trauma-informed service that provides information to individuals, employers and organisations on rights and responsibilities in relation to sexual harassment and sex-based discrimination in the workplace. This service is free and confidential.
The Respect@Work Information Service can:
- give you information about your workplace rights and responsibilities under the Federal Sex Discrimination Act 1984 (Cth) and other jurisdictions that deal with workplace sexual harassment or workplace sex-based discrimination.
- discuss whether you may be able to make a complaint to the Commission or another body, and how the law might apply to your situation.
- give you information about how to make a complaint, respond to a complaint, or consider specific issues in relation to workplace sexual harassment and sex-based discrimination.
- refer you to another organisation for assistance, such as legal or counselling services, where appropriate.

National Information Service
The National Information Service (NIS) provides information and referrals for individuals, organisations and employers about a range of human rights and discrimination issues. This service is free and confidential.
The NIS can:
- give you information about your rights and responsibilities under federal human rights and anti-discrimination law
- discuss whether you may be able to make a complaint to the Commission or how the law might apply to your situation
- give you information about how to make a complaint, respond to a complaint or deal with specific discrimination issues
- refer you to another organisation that may be able to help you, if we can't
