The Government has to explain why it happened. What was the intention? I have to know why I was taken. I have to know why I was given the life I was given and why I'm scarred today. Justice for Asylum Seekers (JAS) is a non-incorporated alliance of community organisations founded in 1999 to work for just treatment of people seeking asylum. It is based in Victoria, meets monthly and has three working groups: 1. Campaign, 2. Detention reform and 3. Lobbying.

The Commission received 1937 submissions during the Freedom of Religion and Belief in the 21st century project submission period (17 September 2008 to 28 February 2009). An additional 95 submissions were received after the formal deadline.
